Nothing beats the fun and flavor of making pizza from scratch!
Flour | 2 cups |
Salt | 1 tbsp |
Garlic Powder | 1 tbsp |
Baking Powder | 2 tsp |
Pepper | 1/2 tsp |
Water | 1 cup |
Egg | 1 |
Tomato Sauce | 1 8oz can |
Shredded Mozzarella Cheese | 1 cup or Chef’s Choice |
Shredded Cheddar Cheese | 1/4 cup or Chef’s Choice |
Pepperoni | Chef’s Choice |
Spinach | 1/2 cup or Chef’s Choice |
Black Olives | 1 can or Chef’s Choice |
Onion | 1/4 whole or Chef’s Choice |
Prep
You will need a mixing bowl and a pizza pan or baking sheet. Use scissors or a knife to cut Spinach into small strips. Slice Olives in half and dice or finely chop the Onion.
Step One
Step Two
Knead the dough for a minimum of 10 to 15 minutes. The goal is to activate the gluten to create an elastic texture so tearing and stretching the dough as you knead will help that process occur. The dough texture should change slightly to be more smooth and stretchy which indicates you’ve kneaded thoroughly.
Step Three
Step Four
Step Five
Step Six
Sprinkle Shredded Mozzarella Cheese over Tomato Sauce until desired cheesiness is reached. Sprinkle a thin layer of Cheddar Cheese around the edge of the pizza where the crust meets the Sauce.
Step Seven
Add Pepperoni, Spinach, Olives, and Onions to desired taste. Sprinkle a thin layer of Shredded Mozzarella Cheese over the toppings to help them stick to the pizza when served.
Step Eight
Preheat oven to 420°. Once preheated, place Pizza on middle rack and cook for 15 to 25 minutes, adding time in 5-minute increments if necessary. The crust should be a light golden brown and the cheese will be brown and bubbly in the middle while the cheese on the crust will be brown and crispy.
Step Nine
Remove Pizza from oven and allow to cool for 5 to 10 minutes before cutting. Enjoy!
After baking, I usually broil the pizza for up to 60 seconds to make sure the cheese is perfect. But, if you don’t have a broiler, just keep cooking in 5 minute increments to desired crispiness. As long as the cheese isn’t black it is probably not burnt!
