Horseshoe Bend Community Meeting 06-09-2025

Hey everyone, we called an emergency townhall at the Pair Rd voting location on Monday, 06-09-2025 7:00pm at 2115 Pair Rd SW, Marietta, GA to discuss matters that are affecting the Horseshoe Bend and surrounding communities.

These topics included:

  • Corporate Ownership of Horseshoe Bend Homes
  • Rezoning Case Z-7
  • Land being rezoned for townhomes off E/W Connector creating illegal “City Islands”

Rezone for Powder Spring townhomes off Barrett Parkway/East-West Connector

The above map outlines the area pictured in the plan on the left. The above map can be accessed on the Cobb County Website but the map on the right was emailed to a neighbor from the city of Powder Springs and doesn’t seem easily accessible. The Cobb County Zoning Map shows the city island that is entirely cut off from the rest of Powder Springs.

Rezoning Case Z-7

Plans to build a better food forest for all!

  • Georgia Model Urban Forest
    • Published in 2000, it’s a bit outdated and could include more native species and fruit trees! However it is an excellent foundation to build from and everyone should read it!
    • Direct link to PDF
  • Do your part in planting native species!
  • Please do not spray broad pesticide or herbicides! (NO MOSQUITO SPRAY!)
    • You can still apply sparingly for termites, ants, hornets, etc. if you are extremely careful of drift and overspray!
    • Mosquitos, especially the Floodwater Mosquito which carries Zika Virus, thrive in moist soil and detention ponds. Plant water loving plants and trees to soak up water as fast as possible!
    • If you have a pond or standing water, don’t fret, beneficial insects like dragonflies will soon move in to eat the mosquito larvae and control the population.
    • Make sure there are no containers on your property with standing water. Spraying does nothing if you don’t remove the source!
    • Mosquito Dunks are bacteria-based mosquito killer that targets the larvae in water. Throw them in any stagnant water or create a trap with a bowl and a mosquito dunk!
  • Instead of grass lawns, let the birds and squirrels plant native species and watch the variety accumulate!
